Forward Email from mail.msu.edu

It is strongly recommended that users forward email sent to their MSU email accounts to their EGR account. EGR email offers features such as reduced spam, larger space to save emails and backups of each mailbox.

Below are instructions for setting your account on mail.msu.edu to forward to another email account. If you have not activated your mail.msu.edu account, you will need to do so prior to setting up forwarding. Please see the following web page for activation of your mail.msu.edu account.

https://netid.msu.edu/activate.html

After logging into mail.msu.edu:

  1. Click on MSU Prefs.
  2. Locate the Forwarding Address section and enter the email address to want your MSU email to be forwarded to.
  3. Click Save.

All incoming emails will then be forwarded directly to the address provided. These messages will not appear in the inbox on mail.msu.edu.

Forwarding EGR Mail to Another Address

Faculty, Staff & Current Students

If you would like to forward your engineering email to another email address, you first need to ensure that the other email address is not forwarding to your engineering account. If it is, a mail loop is created which will cause your email to fail.

1. To set up email forwarding, login to My Account and select Email Forwarding from the menu on the left side of the page.

2. Enter the address you want to have your EGR mail forwarded to and click the Enable box and then click Save.

If you decide to stop forwarding your engineering mail, return to the same page, click the Enable box again to disable and click Save. Forwarding of engineering mail stops when the account expires. If you would like to continue receiving engineering mail after your account has expired, please see the section below on alumni email forwarding.
