Follow the instructions below to access engineering network resources on your personal machine. To access engineering resources, you will need to be connected to the engineering network. You are connected to the engineering network in the engineering building, in an engineering research facility, or if you are connected to the engineering VPN. Instructions for connecting to the engineering VPN can be found here.

1. Select Finder from your dock (at the bottom of the screen).
2. In Finder, click on Go and then on Connect to Server.
   
   
    
3. In the Server Address box, type smb://filer1.egr.msu.edu/share, where "share" comes from the list below. If you wish to access your M: drive, replace "share" with your engineering username.
4. You will then be asked to authenticate to the network. Under the Name field enter EGR\yourusername, similar to EGR\Sparty shown below. Enter your engineering password in the password field.
   

5. After connecting to the drive, you can access your files through the shortcut on the desktop, in the Locations tab in Finder, or in the Computer tab in finder. The office drive has been used as an example in the image below.

M: Drive

• Access your engineering M: drive on your own computer.
• Server address: smb://filer1.egr.msu.edu/username
•  "username" is your engineering username

• Office is shared space setup for departmental groups
• Server address: smb://cifs.egr.msu.edu/dfs/office
