The Engineering Virtual Desktop (RDS) provides users with an environment similar to the DECS Public Computer Labs where users can access all of their network files and most of the same software. Use of these servers is available to all engineering users.

X2Go is an implementation of NX remote desktop protocol, you can use it to remotely access the graphical desktop of our Linux compute servers. X2Go can be installed on Linux, Windows, or MacOS.

The Engineering Virtual Desktop (RDS) can be accessed through any modern web browser on most devices. The Microsoft Edge and Google Chrome web browsers seem to provide the best experience at the moment, Firefox presents some minor visual quirks that distract from the experience.

In the interest of security for all users, DECS recently implemented security changes that affect Windows 7 computers and their ability to connect to DECS Remote Desktop Services (RDS) and DECS Remote Desktop Gateway. This article will explain how to restore Windows 7 connectivity to these DECS services. Please contact the DECS Support Office if you are having issues connecting with another version of Windows, Linux, or Mac.
