DECS

In recent weeks and months a common email fraud involves the claim that an attacker has placed malware on your device to invade your privacy and extort a payment. Some of the more recent ones claim to know your password. The password shown is likely to be an old password you actually did use. If you still use that password anywhere, please change it. These types of email pose no actual risk and they are trying to trick you into sending payment.

The email is usually poorly written and not specifically targeting/addressing a particular person. The scammers claim that they possess sensitive information which when leaked, would destroy your reputation. These emails are a very common scam on the internet. You should not respond to the user and delete the message. As always, if you ever have any questions, please contact the DECS Support Office.
