Anytime a false positive is found (a message incorrectly marked as spam) it should be forwarded with full headers to abuse@egr.msu.edu.
How to forward an email with full headers:
GMAIL
- Log in to your Gmail account.
- Open the message you want to forward.
- Click the Three Dots next to the Reply button, located at the top right of the message pane.
- Select Show Original.
- Select Download Original
- Attach the downloaded file to your new email to abuse@egr.msu.edu
OUTLOOK
- Open Outlook.
- Double click the message you intend to forward (this will open up the email in a new window)
- In the new window, select the File button on the top left
- Select the Properties button at the bottom
- Copy all of the text in the Internet Headers section
- Paste the copied text into your email to abuse@egr.msu.edu
OUTLOOK WEB
- Open Outlook.
- Open the message you intend to forward
- Select the Three Dots next to the Forward button, located at the top right of the message pane.
- Select Download
- Attach the downloaded file to your new email to abuse@egr.msu.edu
MOZILLA THUNDERBIRD
- Open Mozilla Thunderbird.
- Open the message you intend to forward
- Click the View menu (if you do not see this at the top left, press the alt button)
- Select the Message Sort button at the bottom
- Copy the text
- Paste the copied text into your email to abuse@egr.msu.edu
APPLE MAIL
- Open Apple Mail.
- Click on the message you want to view headers for.
- Go to the View menu.
- Select Message, then Long Headers.
