Real-Time Digital Simulation
RTDS NovaCor platforms support electromagnetic-transient and phasor-domain studies, multi-system coordination, hardware-in-the-loop experiments, and closed-loop testing of protection and control functions.
Facilities
The laboratory uses simulation, measurement, communication, protection, and control equipment to evaluate modern power systems under realistic operating conditions.

RTDS NovaCor platforms support electromagnetic-transient and phasor-domain studies, multi-system coordination, hardware-in-the-loop experiments, and closed-loop testing of protection and control functions.
AWS cloud services support real-time data exchange, optimization, and coordinated dispatch of battery energy storage systems and distributed energy resources. The platform enables event-triggered computation, periodic system-data updates, and closed-loop testing of cloud-based grid-control applications.
Protective relays, controllers, PMUs, PDCs, communication interfaces, and power-system devices support hardware-, controller-, software-, and communication-in-the-loop studies.
Networked protection relays, automation controllers, meters, interface servers, and safety systems support synchronized measurement, protection testing, equipment control, and automated operation of the laboratory testbed.
Experimental workflow
The facility page can later include detailed inventories, system diagrams, reservation information, and links to funded infrastructure projects.
Develop component, network, control, and communication models at the fidelity required by the research question.
Connect simulation platforms with PMUs, relays, controllers, cloud services, and external hardware.
Run repeatable scenarios, quantify uncertainty, assess protection and control performance, and compare against analytical results.
