The Arduino is programmed and used to take the frequency values, which are input to digital pin 8 from the output of the microphone amplifier, and writes them to file through third party software, Cool Term, via the USB plug.

The Arduino is also responsible for taking the frequency data and displaying the instantaneous frequency on the 7 segment LED display.

The acclerometer is also connected to the Arduino, and with thresholds set in all directions, when spikes in accelerations is sensed an alarm is triggered by when pin 13 of the device goes high.
