Biography:
Saurabh Gupta received the B.Tech. Degree in Mechanical Engineering (ME) from Uttar Pradesh Technical University, Lucknow in 2009, and an M.Tech. in ME from the NIT Srinagar in 2013, and a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in acoustics for assessing and characterizing the composite structures using Ultrasonics (UT) from IIT Madras, CNDE-Lab, of Mechanical Engineering (design) in 2019. During his doctoral studies, he assisted in several consultancy projects within his research group for clients, including Renault, Nissan, and Walmart. He conducted various experiments on the characterization of high-reactive battery samples and watermelon for structural health monitoring (SHM) using UT waves. From early 2019 to November 2019, he worked as a Postdoctoral researcher on the project "The Laser Interferometer Gravitational-wave Observatory" in the CNDE laboratory at IITM. He served at the Vellore Institute of Technology from November 2019 to November 2023 as an assistant professor in the School of Mechanical Engineering. He joined the CEE department at Michigan State University, USA, in Nov 2023 as a Postdoc Research Associate, with a focus on Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) and Evaluation of complex hybrid composite structures. Since 2019, he has actively worked in the NDT/E, guiding various master's and bachelor's students in their research and capstone projects. He has published various peer-reviewed international research articles in high-impact-factor journals and conferences. He is also an active reviewer for some of the renowned international journals, including Ultrasonics, Journal of Civil Structural Health Monitoring, NDT&E, and Journal of Composite Structures, in the fields of NDE and Vibrations. His research addresses the following topics: UT-GWs for weak interfaces, SHM of ice-affected regions, AI & ML-assisted NDT&E, Scattering, GW Imaging.
