General Motors is in need of Rapid Control Prototyping (RCP) Local Interconnect Network (LIN) Driver libraries that are capable of measuring the vehicles environmental characteristics from sensors and operating several actuators used to modulate the climate of the vehicle interior compartment. These LIN drivers are to utilize the dSPACE RCP system which can be used to conduct strain tests and simulations on the LIN based sensors and actuators. The dSPACE system makes it possible to develop a reusable driver library that GM requires.
This design team has taken on the task of developing dSPACE libraries that are capable of reading the temperature, ambient light, solar intensity, solar angles, and the humidity level of the sensors surrounding environment. Also, a driver library was designed to control actuators that are used to open and close vents in the climate control system. dSPACE provides MATLAB/Simulink LIN block sets that were used to setup communication between the vehicles Electrical Control Unit (ECU) and the sensors and actuators.
The impact of the Simulink and dSPACE driver libraries developed will set the foundation for rapid control prototyping using LIN based sensors and actuators.
