Background Information

This section of the website contains material that may be helpful to understanding how the program works, but is unnecessary in the every day usage of the program.

Fast Nearfield Method

The Fast Nearfield Method is a method used to calculate ultrasound pressure fields. A short explanation of why this method is superior is included for reference.

Angular Spectrum Approach

The Angular Spectrum Approach is a method used to propagate fields from a known field. This allows the time it takes to create a 3-d pressure field to be independent of the number of transducers, once a a source plane has been computed. A short explanation of this theory and applications of the ASA has been included.
