Progress
1/11/13
Team met with
sponsor, Mr. Blosser of MSU RCPD. Received materials from
Phase I (Fall Semester 2012 team). Discussed project
objectives.
1/18/13
Tested Phase I HUI
with Mr. Blosser, Jordyn, and Al (blind RCPD faculty member). Received feedback and
divided project requirements into two stages: primary and
secondary.
1/30/13
Prototype I (see
pictures) demo. Works
but needs to be improved.
1/31/13
Pre-proposal
submitted
2/8/13
Calculating force
need to hold pin up.
ECE 305 flashback!
2/11/13
More calculations
2/18/13
Proposal outlined
2/20/13
Prototype II (see
pictures) demo. Works
better than Prototype I, but still needs some improvement. Pressure
from user’s finger is greater than the force the solenoid exerts on
pin. Therefore pin
falls when too much pressure is exerted.
2/22/13
Proposal completed
and submitted
Proposal presentation
to class, check out it out under Documents tab!
2/25/13
Solenoid driver
circuit tests
3/13/13
Design changes, new
circuit design
Prototype III demo,
best design yet. Adding a wedge to stabilize pins. Pins no longer drop no
matter how much pressure on them.
3/15/13 – 3/29/13
PCB creation. With final circuit design,
now time to fabricate onto PCB.
3/19/13 – 3/20/13
Software – Arduino
coding. Simple LED
driver circuit. LEDs
emulate what pins will do, LED on, pin is up and if LED is off, pin
is down.

3/22/13
Technical
presentation topic assigned: Design Magnets
4/1/13
Team technical
presentation to class; check it out under the Documents tab!
4/1/13
PCBs ordered
4/5/13
Application notes
submitted
4/5/13 – 4/17/13
3D modeling for pin
tower and wedges
4/9/13
PCBs are in!
4/10/13
Create solenoid core
and ends with Mr. Blosser.
4/12/13
Soldering PCBs
4/15/13
Make solenoid spools
and wind solenoids
4/17/13
Soldering – PCBs are
lookin’ great!
4/18/13
More soldering –
solenoids attached and PCBs are done!
Arduino code
implementation – 24 LEDs = 24 pins
Ordered pin tower and
wedges for 3D printing
4/19/13
Demo project for Dr.
Grotjohn and Dr. Ayres
3D printing
done! Received pin
tower and 24 wedges
4/22/13
Graphical User Interface has
been tested and successfully communicates with the
Arduino Leonardo and Shift Registers!
4/24/13
Final Report Submitted, casing complete
4/25/13
Assembly and testing wrapping up! |
