The Robotics and Automation Laboratory at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Michigan State University, is directed by Dr.Ning Xi. The Laboratory carries out sponsored research on systems and large scale networks, such as control systems, communication systems, robotics and manufacturing systems. The research activities emphasize systems modeling and analysis, sensor integration and data fusion, controller design, human and computer interaction, real-time computing architecture software development. The ultimate goal is to develop theoretical foundations as well as implementation schemes for systems and large-scale networks to increase their efficiency, reliability and safety, and to achieve a robust and intelligent system performance. The problems studied here involve both theoretical development in new methodologies for planning and control, as well as implementation problems in sensory measurement, computer software development.
The Laboratory continues to receive support from the National Science Foundation, Department of Defense, National Institute of Health, and industries for its unique effort in theoretical development and experimental validation.
