Short Bio: Jian Ren is a Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Michigan State University. Before joining MSU, Dr. Ren was the Leading Secure Architect at Avaya Lab (2000-2002), Bell Lab (1998-2000) and Racal Datacom (1997-1998). Prof. Ren received his Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from Xidian University, China. Dr. Ren's research interests include cybersecurity, distributed data sharing and storage, decentralized data management, secure cloud computing, Big Data security, cost-aware privacy-preserving communications, blockchain-based e-voting, and AI security.
Dr. Ren's research has been supported by multiple sources, including the National Science Foundation, AFRL, Semiconductor Research Corporation, MSU Technologies, and other industrial collaborators. He has secured 10 NSF grants, including the National Science Foundation (NSF) CAREER award in 2009.
Prof. Ren served as TPC Chair and Co-Chairs for multiple conferences. He has been the Executive Chair of ICNC since 2019. Dr. Ren has been invited as a Keynote Speaker and Distinguish Speaker for multiple conferences. Dr. Ren is currently serving as Editor-in-Chief of IET Communications, Associate Editors of IEEE Transactions on Mobile Computing, IEEE Internet of Things Journal, and ACM Transactions on Sensor Networks.
