Brian Kent (BS Electrical Engineering ’80), chief scientist (DV-6), Sensors Directorate, Air Force Research Laboratory, was one of 17 individuals recognized by President Obama for “sustained extraordinary accomplishments” at an April 30 ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery.

The Distinguished and Meritorious Presidential Rank Awards, which have been given annually by the president of the United States since the establishment of the Senior Executive Service in 1978, honor high-performing senior career employees. Executives from across government are nominated by their agency heads, evaluated by citizen panels, and designated by the president. Winners of these awards are deemed to be strong leaders, professionals, or scientists who achieve results and consistently demonstrate strength, integrity, industry, and a relentless commitment to excellence in public service.
