Professor Guo's research interests are in advanced manufacturing, materials processing, and mechanics. The center element of his research is to understand large-strain plastic deformation, including plastic instability, ductile fracture, plastic flow control and deformation microstructure-property relationship, with broad applications in machining, surface engineering, frictional welding, micro forming, nanostructured materials processing, etc. Building upon his fundamental research, Prof. Guo attempts to develop novel deformation-based manufacturing technologies with enhanced process efficiency and product quality to address the challenges in modern manufacturing.
