Biography:

Professor Chung's research focuses on the development of a new integrated manufacturing system to fabricate the product having very complex geometries most efficiently. First, the product will be decomposed based on its geometrical features. A relatively simple geometry can be machined from a bulk  material while directed energy deposition (DED) process will be applied to generate more complex geometry without assembly by the virtue of DED's characteristic. In order to enhace the part's quality, magnetic-field assisted finishing (MAF) will be also integrated in this system. As a long-term goal, he aims to produce fully heterogenous composites using multiple materials with this new proposed system.
