Current interest/research

I'm a research associate in the Plasma Theory and Simulation Group (PTSG) at Michigan State University with advisor Prof. John Verboncoeur. My research field is low-temperature plasma physics in terms of rf plasma sources, capacitive and inductive plasams, and multipactor discharges and ionization breakdown dynamics, especially via 1D/2D particle-in-cell simulations, developing theory, and partial fluid modeling (code development and optimazation for all kinds of simulation tools), with applications in integrated circuit, plasma-material processing in semiconductor industry, mitigation of multipactor in electric/microwave devices. Up to now, I have authored/coauthored 45 peer-refereed journal articles (and more than 30 conference papers, 5 software copyrights, 1 patent pending), including Physcial Review Letters, Applied Physics Letter, Plasma Source Sci Tech, Journal of Phys D: Applied Physics and Physics of Plasma etc with more than 750 citations(google scholar), H index 18. I am also a frequent referee for more than 15 internationally renowned journals, including APL, PSST, JPD, POP, JAP, IEEE TED, IEEE TPS etc.

  • Computational Plasam Physics:
    Capacitive/inductive rf plasma discharges; plasma and electromagnetic wave interaction physics; radio frequency sheath dynamics; electron heating in electropositive and negative low temperature plasmas; magnetized plasmas; pulsed plasmas; multipactor and ionization breakdown plasmas in microwave devices; multipactor suppression; theory and particle-in-cell/Monte Carlo simulations.
  • Source code development:
    Transmission line model describing electromagnetic wave propagation in full CCP chamber, development of framework for kinetic global model, ion fluid sheath model, ion Monte-Carlo collision process for continuous and/or pulsed waveform-driven inductive plasmas (Argon, Oxygen, Chlorine etc) with application in semiconductor industry(fortran); further development/optimization for multiple kinds of (1D/2D) particle-in-cell codes, such as oopd1/xoopic/xpdc2 (c, c++ based) in PTSG group (MSU, Prof John Verboncoeur), a series of PIC codes (fortran-based) in PSEG group (DLUT, Prof You-Nian Wang, https://pseg.dlut.edu.cn/); Recently strong interest in Particle-in-Cell development via OpenMP, MPI and GPU.
