Alexandra Zevalkink - 2019 Withrow Teaching Excellence Award

Alexandra Zevalkink, an assistant professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering and Materials Science, has quickly developed a reputation for creating a positive learning environment in her classroom in her three years at MSU. Her students value her hands-on teaching style and her passion for helping students to connect course material to real-life engineering problems, such as through demonstrations and field trips. Scott Calabrese BartonThe mission of this CAREER program is (1) the creation of electrode structures that enhance the reactivity and stability of enzyme bioelectrocatalysts as implemented in high power-density biofuel cells, and (2) the integration of these and other fuel-cell devices into a broad spectrum of education and outreach to promote concepts of engineering product design and new energy systems in communities,
