Dr. Josh Nahum primary involvement with the department has been to teach a variety of undergraduate courses including CSE 220, CSE 232, CSE 440, CSE 450, CSE 480, and many others. He enjoys cycling around Lansing and learning new programming languages. He has a German Shepard named Mal and 4 ferrets.
Kristen Marie Johnson is an assistant professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering. Her research interests include the application of natural language processing and machine learning techniques for social computing and computational social science. She received her PhD from Purdue University in August 2019.
Parisa Kordjamshidi is an assistant professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Michigan State University. She holds an affiliated with Florida Institute for Human and Machine Cognition as a research scientist. Prior to MSU, she was an assistant professor at Tulane University (2016-2019). She was a Postdoctoral researcher at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (2013-2016).
Dr. Ghassemi develops tools and systems that combine human and machine intelligence (A.I.) to solve problems that neither humans nor machines can solve as effectively alone. His research interests include machine learning, data mining, natural language understanding, recommendation systems, decision support, crowd-sourcing, game theory, and human-in-the-loop methodologies.
Qiben Yan is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Michigan State University. From 2015 to 2019, he led Cybersecurity and Threat Intelligence Lab at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Prior to joining UNL, he worked in a cybersecurity startup company called Shape Security in the silicon valley, where he participated in building the first “botwall”. He received a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Virginia Tech, an M.S. and a B.S. degree in Electronic Engineering from Fudan University in Shanghai, China.
