Biography: 

Dr. Cheng received his Bachelor degree in Macromolecular Science and Engineering at the University of Science and Technology of China in 2009, and his Ph.D. degree in Polymer Science at the University of Akron in December 2013 under the supervision of Prof. Shi-Qing Wang. After three-and-half years post-doc research experience at Oak Ridge National Laboratory with Prof. Alexei P. Sokolov, he joined Michigan State University in August 2017. He was one of the 2014 Frank J. Padden Jr. Award finalists of the American Physical Society. Dr. Cheng awarded the 2018 Peter Debye Prize for Young Investigator.  Dr. Cheng’s research is mainly focused on the structure, dynamics, mechanics, and transport properties of polymers, including the nano-reinforcement of polymer nanocomposites, the solid-state polymer electrolytes for Lithium-ion batteries, and novel polymer membranes for carbon capture.
