Dr. Tamara Bush presented to multiple 5th grade classes at a local school on forces and motions associated with the human body.

Dr. Bush conduct this outreach activity annually and her talks are part of the fifth grade human body learning modules.  During this year's event, and at the first presentation Dr. Bush walked into the class, and one of the 5th graders blurted out "Dr. Bush is a girl?" This started the discussion about girls being engineers too...

Dr. Bush and the students also discussed the spine, forces on the body and hip replacements.  Additionally, Dr. Bush brought a large pressure mat and displayed the mat's readings on the screen in front of the classroom. The students sat on pressure mat - on a hard chair, a chair with a cushion, an exercise ball and the ground - they enjoyed looking at the pressure mapping of their buttocks, and their classmate's buttocks on the screen!
