Fowlerville 5th grade students learn about biomechanics!

Fifth grade students in a local school learned about Biomechanics and what it takes to be an engineers.  Students also learned about prosthetic devices and implants. Many of the students knew someone with a hip or knee replacement and were enthusiastic to hear more about them.  Dr. Bush also brought in a pressure mat and reflective motion capture markers.  The students were able to interact with both of these items  - they were particularly interested in seeing how the pressures on the buttock changed with interactions of different support surfaces (shown below).
