Biography

Dr. Changyong Cao directs the Laboratory for Soft Machines and Electronics. He received his Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science from the Australian National University (ANU) in 2014. Then he worked as a postdoctoral associate at the Department of Mechanical Engineering & Materials Science and the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering at Duke University until 2017. His research interests are primarily in the areas of soft materials, nanomaterials, emerging electronics as well as additive manufacturing, including smart materials and structures, soft robotics, printable/flexible/stretchable electronics, smart packaging system, biomedical devices, and 3D/4D printing materials and technologies. He is now serving as editorial board member of two international journals and has published over 40 scientific papers in leading peer-reviewed journals such as Nature Biotechnology, Advanced Materials, Advanced Science, Advanced Electronic Materials, ACS Nano, Biomaterials etc. He is a member of Materials Research Society (MRS), American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), Society of Engineering Science (SES), Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), United States Association for Computational Mechanics (USACM), and Australian Nanotechnology Network (ANN).

His principle department is Packaging.
