Robert E. Yant

Robert E. Yant (BS Chem Egr '63) died Feb. 1 in Parma, Ohio, surrounded by his loving family. He was 74.

He was born July 27, 1940, in Painesville, Ohio, to the late William and Pauline (Sears) Yant.

He was a chemical engineer and graduate of Michigan State University, earning a bachelor's degree in 1963.

He was a fighter pilot for the 179th Tactical Fighter Group (Air National Guard) in Mansfield, Ohio. He worked for PPG and Diamond Shamrock until he and two partners started their own company, Quantum Technologies.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon (Zube), to whom he was married 51 years; children, Kara (Paul) Wnek, Brad (Joanna) Yant, Todd (Kathleen) Yant, Brye (Amir) Qaseem, and Kirt (Betsy Clark) Yant; grandchildren, Brenna, Paige, Bryce Wnek, Claudia, Meaghan, Caitlin, Connor and Olivia Yant and baby boy Yant, who is expected in June; brothers, Gene and David Yant; and sister, Jane (Bill) Primeau.

He was preceded in death by his brother, William Yant.

Memorial services were March 7 at Royal Redeemer Lutheran Church, 11680 Royalton Road, North Royalton.
