Mike Wallace began as the senior director of development at MSU Engineering on June 29, 2022.

Engineering Dean Leo Kempel welcomed Wallace and his dozen years of progressive advancement experience in higher education.

“He has great interest and genuine respect for the MSU College of Engineering’s programs, research, and student success,” Kempel noted.

Wallace said he is pleased to join the staff at MSU Engineering.

“I’m eager to uncover the full breadth of academic and research programming going on in the College – and beyond. Growing up just down the road, joining the MSU team feels a bit like a homecoming. I’m excited to work with the many alumni and friends who care deeply about the College’s future impact on students and the world.”

Wallace comes to MSU Engineering from Lawrence Technological University (LTU) in Southfield, Michigan, where he was executive director of corporate and foundation relations. Prior to LTU, he spent nearly six years with Albion College, where he had significant team building and management experience as chief collaboration officer and then as the associate vice president for advancement during the College’s most recent comprehensive campaign.

Prior to his time at Albion, Wallace worked in the development office at Michigan Medicine, formerly the University of Michigan Health System.

He holds an MBA from MSU’s Broad College of Business and received a bachelor’s degree from Kalamazoo College.

Wallace replaces Stephen Bates who retired in March after 15 years of service.
