Engineering’s new development officer is aimed at strengthening student support and faculty endowments
Martin Bailey has joined Michigan State University as the new associate director of development in the College of Engineering.
Bailey has nearly 20 years of successful higher education fundraising experience.
“I’m so excited and honored to be a Spartan with the College of Engineering. I look forward to working with the many College stakeholders in raising private support to further generate the margin of excellence," Bailey said.
He comes to MSU after serving in development roles for the University of Michigan (UM) for 15 years. Bailey held posts with the UM Alumni Association, Office of University Development representing the Greater Detroit Region and the School of Dentistry.
Additionally, he spent a year as director of leadership gifts for the University of South Florida in Tampa and began his advancement career as a major gifts officer at Olivet College.
Bailey received a bachelor's degree in communications from the University of Michigan-Dearborn.
He is an active volunteer for the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE), where he recently served on the regional board of directors. He has completed leadership roles for CASE V conferences, and is a former member of Rotary International and the Detroit Economic Cub.
Bailey grew up in the East Lansing area and now lives in Dexter. He joined MSU in January.
