The Microtechnology Laboratory at MSU is organized within the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering in the College of Engineering.
Our research interests lie in all aspects of micro / nano sciences and technologies, including micro structures and systems, micro sensors and actuators, biomimetic devices and systems, microfluidics and lab-on-chip systems, MEMS materials, integration and packaging technologies, and other relevant fields. In particular, we are interested in using the biocompatible polymer MEMS platform to develop novel miniaturized devices for fundamental scientific research, chemical sensing and detecting, biomedical diagnostics, and therapy.
Specifically, the Microtechnology lab is currently working on creating material interfaces which are biocompatible, graphene based chemidetectors, microfluidic cell sorters, Intraocular pressure sensors, and generalized chip packaging techniques. Along with research the Microtechnology Lab aids in teaching middle and high schoolers hands-on lessons about the principles of electronics in the WIMS summer camp at MSU.
