Brooks Kushman P.C. of Southfield, Mich., announced it has expanded its intellectual property (IP) expertise with the addition Timothy B. Clise (BS Elec Egr ’91) as a senior attorney on Jan. 29, 2014.
Clise adds significant depth to Brooks Kushman’s electrical engineering patent prosecution team, offering both in-house experience and leadership capabilities gained from managing his own firm. He specializes in U.S. and international patent preparation and prosecution in the electrical, mechanical and electromechanical arts for large, Fortune 500 companies to small start-ups. Clise’s practice and experience expands beyond traditional IP and across a wide range of industries and technologies.
Most recently, Clise served as a senior patent attorney and member of the Strategic Patent Development Team for Blackberry Limited where he evaluated internal inventions, directed patent application drafting on a worldwide basis and managed U.S. and European patent professionals to facilitate direct filing of responses. Prior, he was a managing attorney at Clise, Billion & Cyr in Minneapolis and an attorney/officer at the national IP firm Schwegman, Lundberg, & Woessner, which is also located in Minneapolis.
He earned his J.D. from University of Dayton School of Law in Ohio and a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering from Michigan State University in 1992.
Clise is a member of the State of Michigan Bar, U.S. Patent Bar, State of Minnesota Bar and the American IP Law Association.
