Lorenzo M. Smith has been named the next provost and executive vice president at Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas, effective June 1, 2021.
Smith is currently a professor and dean of the College of Engineering and Computer Science at California State University in Sacramento, California.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign; a master’s degrees from Wayne State University in Detroit; and a doctorate in engineering mechanics from Michigan State University in 1999.
