Kevin T. Conroy (BS Elec Egr ’88) was named an EY Entrepreneur of the Year in the Midwest during a black-tie gala at Navy Pier in Chicago on June 18, 2014.
Conroy is president and CEO of Exact Sciences Corp. in Madison, Wisc. He took over leadership of the company in April 2009. The company (http://www.exactsciences.com) was founded in 1995 with a mission to partner with healthcare providers, payers, patients and advocacy groups to eradicate colorectal cancer.
Prior to joining Exact Sciences, Conroy was president and chief executive of Third Wave. His career has included serving as the Third Wave company's general counsel; as intellectual property counsel at GE Healthcare; as chief operating officer of two early stage, venture-backed technology companies in Northern California; and as an intellectual property litigator at two Chicago law firms: McDermott Will & Emery; and Pattishall, McAuliffe, Newbury, Hilliard and Geraldson, where he was a partner.
Along with his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from MSU, he earned a law degree from the University of Michigan Law School.
The Midwest award from EY qualifies Conroy for one of several national awards that will be presented in Palm Springs, Calif., on Nov. 15, 2014.
