Jackie Martling

Jan. 4, 2014

Jackie Martling (BS Mech Egr ’71) was always funny. The native of Long Island, N.Y., originally thought an engineering degree would be more practical and earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering in 1971 from Michigan State.

His original passion for comedy won out, however. He released three successful comedy LPs in the early 1980s. In 1986, he began a 15-year stint as the head writer for Howard Stern’s radio show. Since 2006 in addition to touring as a stand-up comic he's hosted the radio show "Jackie's Joke Hunt" on Stern's SiriusXM channel. Today, Martling shares his time between his house on Long Island and his apartment in Manhattan.
