Chad J. Mitts (BS Mech Egr '95) is the new executive vice president of Mayville Engineering Company Inc.  (MEC) in Mayville, Wisc., the company announced Jan. 25, 2015. His promotion is effective immediately.

He replaces Richard C. Nielsen, executive vice president, who retired after 31 years of service with Center Manufacturing Inc. and MEC.

Mitts will be responsible for the operations of MEC’s fabrications, performance structures, and tank business groups. He will also oversee the Greenwood, S.C., manufacturing facility.

Mitts previously held the position of vice president of strategy, capital and continuous improvement. He has been instrumental in the development of MEC’s strategic plan that will continue to drive growth for the firm. He has more than 20 years of professional experience, including his previous position of general manager of Meritor’s North American brake and driveline business.

Mitts earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Michigan State University in 1995 and a master’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Illinois.
