The Midland Research Institute for Value Chain Creation has hired Amanpreet Kaur (PhD ELEC EGR '16) to focus research on materials, sensors and circuits play in smart packaging.
"Amanpreet's research interest in radio frequency identification, remote sensing, bio sensors and other next generation packaging materials will offer unique insights and solutions related to MRIVCC projects that are addressing some of the world's grand challenges," said Katherine A. Franz, MRIVCC executive director. "We look forward to seeing the many ways her strengths will benefit our research projects and partners."
Kaur earned a bachelor of science degree in electronics engineering from Punjab Technical University, India, in 2005, and a master of science in electronics product design from PEC University of Technology, India, in 2007. In 2016, Kaur received her Ph.D. in electrical engineering from Michigan State University, where she worked as a research associate in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. In her role at MSU, Kaur helped develop a multi-level, anti-counterfeit technology for drug and food supply chains.
At MRIVCC, Kaur's focus will be on intelligent packaging and adding functionality to packaging systems. She will work in collaboration with other scientists at MSU, MRIVCC and external private and public sector partners.
