Welcome to the Undergraduates Studies Office (UGS).  Our team provides a variety of support services, starting from outreach activities to connect K-12 students to engineering, through recruiting freshmen and transfer students, providing academic advising to our students, operating the CoRe Experience first-year program in South Neighborhood and assisting students in reaching their career goals.  The Engineering Undergraduate Studies Office mission statement can be viewed here.

Daina Briedis, Ph.D., Assistant Dean for Student Advancement and Program Assessment

Dr. Briedis' primary responsibilities include coordinating programs and activities focused on our Honors College students, undergraduate researchers and other high achievers, and overseeing assessment and quality improvement efforts within the college. In addition, she assists the Associate Dean in a variety of college activities.

Engineering Advising Center

Erica Weeks, M.U.R.P., Director of Academic Advising

The Director of Academic Advising oversees academic advising for all engineering undergraduate students; New Student Orientation Program; certifies degree completion and athletic eligibility; and administers student records processing and enrollment functions.

The CoRe Experience

Timothy Hinds, M.S., CoRe Director

Engineers in the 21st Century need the ability to innovate, communicate, and perform at the highest levels in an increasingly global and demanding world.  The CoRe Experience responds to this need through an integrated first year engineering academic program and an engineering living-learning community to support the personal and professional growth of first-year engineering students.

Carmellia Davis-King, M.A., Co-Curricular Director

The CoRe Residential Experience provides common course scheduling, tutoring, peer mentors, professional and recreational field trips, evening presentations, projects, and service opportunities, with many of the functions held in South Neighborhood, which also houses the computer and project labs for the CoRe courses and first-year academic advising.

Coordinates recruitment efforts for women  in engineering.  Provides multiple opportunities for prospective students to visit campus. Offers a wide array of activities and programs  to encourage girls to pursue engineering.

Applied Engineering Sciences

Laura J. Genik, Ph.D., Director

The Applied Engineering Sciences major offers students an engineering education stressing breadth across disciplines that is integrated with a business core. Students select one of six concentrations including Computer Science, Supply Chain Management, Technical Sales, Media and Information, Business Law and Packaging.
