Interactive Groundwater

IGW Version 6.0

This is the IGW program exe file. Please download this file on your hard disk and follow the instructions to install the program.

IGW - User's Manual ( Revision 2)

This manual is intended to give in-depth information concerning IGW, and is mostly applicable to the latest version presented there i.e., IGW version 6.0. The manual is organized according to the logical order the user would employ the features of the software interface, if building a model from scratch. The software version included for trial has some additional features which are not discussed in user's manual. While running the software, you may also notice few variations in screen layouts, texts and graphics compared to the manual's print.
  IGW Tutorial - Groundwater Modeling
This tutorial guides you step by step to learn to use IGW to build a basic groundwater model. Steps and procedures given in this tutorial would mostly hold good to grasp the basic understanding of the IGW Version 6.0. Advanced features of IGW are not discussed in this tutorial. You might find slight variations in some screen-shots in the manual compared to what you will get in the version downloaded here.
IGW Tutorial - GIS-Enabled Groundwater Modeling
This tutorial is specifically written to include GIS-enabled modeling and some advanced modeling features of IGW. The tutorial guides you step by step to learn to use IGW's GIS-interface, upload GIS data into the modeling environment and build a basic groundwater model from scratch. Some advanced features of IGW are also portrayed in the working examples.
  Tutorials Data
All data files required for the tutorial exercises for basic groundwater modeling and GIS-enabled modeling are contained in this data folder. It may be noted that internal structure of this data folder after un-zipping the files may not be changed because this structure is based on Michigan GIS data sets and IGW is programmed to take advantage of the predefined file paths between data files.

IGW Manuals

Three documents included here, one User's Manual and two tutorials. It is advised to first start with the tutorial for the basic groundwater modeling and the user manual is referred for intricate details as the tutorial exercises are done. The tutorial is very simple to follow and an experienced modeler can complete it in a relatively short time. This will give the modeler a very good grasp on the basic functionality of IGW modeling environment. The second tutorial is for GIS-enabled groundwater modeling. It will introduce you to the GIS modeling in IGW. It is advised that the modeler may go through Chapter 22 of User's Manual (which is about IGW's GIS interface) before starting the second tutorial. While doing the second tutorial, the modeler may find slight variations in IGW display windows and GIS modeling tutorial manual compared to the User's Manual. However, the latter over rules those in the first users manual. It is hoped that these variations will not cause significant issues while doing the tutorials.

For any issues/clarifications during the tutorial exercises and for any observations or comments regarding the User's Manual and tutorials please contact: interactivegroundwater@gmail.com .
