On Saturday February 24, 2018 Dr. Jeff Nanzer along with students Pratik Chatterjee, Sean Ellison, John Doroshewitz, Stravros Vakalis, Serge Mghabghab, Alamzadeh Muhammadidban, and Jennifer Byford ran a Doppler Radar activity for the Women in Engineering (WIE) Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day. This event featured over 25 different engineering related activities and was able to impact over 450 girls ranging from 4th to 8th grade.

The activity included making your own reflecters to attach to RC cars and driving them in front of a portable radar to see a visualization of the Doppler Shift (right), demonstrating radar scattering by shooting differently shaped objects with Nerf guns, seeing a Doppler Shift using technology being used in autonomous vehicles (left), and a brief talk on what Doppler Radar is. More photos from the event can be found on the College of Engineering's flicker account.
