The overarching goal of the Other-Than-Sight Marksman Guidance System is to provided visually impaired persons with the ability to operate a firearm in a manner as identical as possible to a sighted shooter. This is accomplished through the use of computer vision and a haptic feedback mechanism. With computer vision a camera can be used to stream a live signal to a microcontroller where image processing can be performed. Once processed, feedback can be created based on visual criteria and transmitted to a vibration motor that communicates to the user the relative position of aim to a designated target. The entire system can be managed and run by a single microcontroller and requires only one camera.
