Course Description

This course reviews components of the hydrologic cycle, including the occurrence and movement of water on and beneath the surface of the Earth, the properties of water, and water’s relationship with the environment. In this course, students will be also introduced to geographical information systems (GIS) and hydrologic modeling applications in environmental & water resources engineering.

Course Objectives

The objective of this course is to give the student an understanding of the basic terminology of surface and groundwater hydrology. Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  • Understand watershed hydrology and applying this knowledge to design hydraulic structures.
  • Understand geographical information systems and apply them to solve water resources problems.
