Tanzilur Rahman

Tanzilur Rahman joined Michigan State University in 2020 and completed his Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering in 2024. He investigated the relationship between the microstructure-processing parameters of severe plastic deformed (SPD) Ti-12Cr and Zinc-Magnesium alloys by high-pressure torsion. Tanzil was our Lab safety representative and WebMaster. He developed our webpage in 2021. Tanzil received his B.Sc. degree in Materials and Metallurgical Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology and an M.Sc. degree in Mechanical Engineering from Tuskegee University, Alabama. He was a member of the CHEMS Graduate Student Association (GSA) executive board 2022-2023. He was the elected graduate student representative of the 2022-2023 Computing Services Advisory Committee (CSAC) for the MSU college of engineering.

Tanzil conducted research in the field of metallurgy since his undergraduate. He investigated the effect of the addition of different alloying elements in Aluminum alloys as his undergraduate thesis. During his M.Sc. at Tuskegee University, He worked on the development of optimum processing parameters for joining technology of pearlitic rail steel by gas metal arc welding for the Federal Railway Administration. He also worked as an associate supervisor of the undergraduate interns in the Nucor Education and Research Center at Tuskegee University. Tanzil loves history and geography, and enjoys reading, hiking, and traveling.
