Biography:

Oktay Yigit joined Michigan State University in 2023 as a Post Doctoral Researcher in Materials Science and Engineering. He investigated the biomedical coatings of the changeable young modulus Ti-12Cr alloys by hydrothermal method. Oktay worked as Lab safety representative in the lab and collaborated with other studies. Oktay received his B.Sc. degree in Metallurgy and Material Engineering from Karadeniz Technical University and an M.Sc. degree in Metallurgy and Material Engineering in Firat University. And Lastly his Ph.D. degree in Metallurgy and Material Engineering Technologies, Firat University Turkiye.

Oktay has been conducting research in the field of metallurgy since his undergraduate education. He designed a hot and cold rolling mill as his undergraduate thesis. During his Master's degree at Firat University, he investigated the usability of the MAG welding method by adding metal powder for low carbon 1020 steels to produce hard surface coatings. He also completed his PhD thesis on the coating and characterising graphene-added hydroxyapatite-based coatings on Ti6Al4V and Ti6Al7Nb alloy surfaces by Plasma Electrolytic Oxidation and Hydrothermal methods. Oktay likes to follow technology, art trips, nature walks and motorcycle trips.
