Manal is a research associate at the Department of Biosystems and Agricultural Engineering, Michigan State University, since 2019. Her research includes evaluating the effectiveness of controlled drainage and saturated buffer practices on edge-of-field nutrient load reduction (i.e. nitrogen and phosphorus) in the Western Lake Eire Basin. Manal is also interested in modeling nutrient fate and transport in croplands. Before joining MSU, she developed DRAINMOD-P at North Carolina State University, a model that simulates phosphorus dynamics and transport in agricultural lands. She is conducting further testing and enhancements to make DRAINMOD-P a useful tool for evaluating the effect of best management practices on edge-of-field phosphorus loss.

Ph.D., 2019. North Carolina State University, USA. Biological and Agricultural Engineering
B.Sc., 2008. Mansoura University, Egypt. Civil Engineering-Irrigation and Hydraulics
