Craig Gunn named fellow of the American Society for Engineering Education
Craig Gunn, senior academic specialist in the Michigan State University Department of Mechanical Engineering, has been named a fellow of the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE).
Craig Gunn, senior academic specialist in MSU's Department of Mechanical Engineering, has been named a fellow of ASEE. Gunn celebrated with another ASEE fellow, Patricia Hall of the University of Tulsa.
The fellow designation, which is only conferred on 1/10th of 1 percent of the ASEE membership each year, is presented to those with outstanding qualifications and experiences in engineering and related fields.
ASEE bestowed the honor to 11 new fellows during the 124th Annual Conference and Exposition in Columbus, Ohio, June 25-28. The event is the only conference dedicated to all disciplines of engineering education.
Gunn’s career at MSU has been celebrated with a number of national and university awards. In 2008, he was presented the Alvah K. Borman Award from ASEE’s Cooperative and Experiential Education Division for sustained, honorable and meritorious contributions to the promotion and practice of cooperative education in engineering and technology. At MSU, he has received the Michigan State University Distinguished Academic Staff Award and the Withrow Academic Staff Service Award from the MSU College of Engineering.
He joined MSU in 1986.
Gunn earned two degrees from Michigan State University – a master’s (1982), and bachelor’s (1971), both in English.
It is the second Spartan Engineer named an ASEE fellow in the last two years. In 2015, Daina Briedis, associate professor of chemical engineering and materials science and assistant dean of student advancement and program assessment in the College of Engineering, was also presented with the national honor.
