HP35s Calculator
The HP35s is available online from HP--this is where most people buy theirs. Try the following link: http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/us/en/sm/WF05a/215348-215348-64232-20037-215351-3442983.html
You've probably read elsewhere of the power of RPN, and the HP35s has it. I use mine almost daily to solve all sorts of engineering and physics problems. It is regrettable that the HP35s is NOT able to be computer-connected. You can write your own programs, but you have no way to back them up....
Nonetheless, with the HP30 and HP9 cancelled, and the somewhat strange HP10 the other options, the HP35s is head and shoulders above them. Since the HP33 is somewhat similar to the HP35, just that the HP33 is uglier, I do hope that we'd see either a non-programmable HP35 type that has the basic functions engineers use, and also an upgraded HP35 that has computer connectivity.
Critique
Long-time HP calculator users have noted that HP broke a bit with tradition set by the HP41c and other calcuators by NOT putting the inverse operations on the same key. Namely, the Natural Log and Common Log are on separate keys from their inverse operations, 10x and ex. This is counterintuitive, but the user adapts after a bit of use.
Another criticism is the inability to computer-link the HP35s. Many would gladly have paid $10-20 more, since the ability to load programs is a key ability. Just look at the community of support still extant for the HP41c.
Overall, the HP35s is a welcome product, we can only hope for a new more advanced calculator in the future from HP.
Hooray for the HP35s!
