W8SH EM Field Estimation
Recently, interference has been experienced in the Engineering Building to certain office telephones and audio devices adjacent to the antenna infrastructure. I felt it instructive to do a brief "back of envelope" examination of possible EM field interactions with the office electronic equipment.
These estimations show that it is possible for intense near field interactions to be occuring with office equipment located immediately beneath the antenna infrastructure. As the circulating energy flows through the wires of the office equipment, voltages substantially higher than normal may be induced, which are readily rectified by semiconductors in their respective circuits.
If the undesired induced voltages are from reactive near field interactions, it may take substantial effort to eliminate the undesired induced voltages.
