1. Tonghun Lee
receives the
'Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers (PECASE)'
from President Obama for contributions in application of
multi-spectral high speed laser diagnostics in next generation
hypersonic propulsion systems. The PECASE award is the highest honor
bestowed by the United States government on science and engineering
professionals in the early stages of their independent research careers
and provides a five year $1M grant for further research and
development
(9/2011).
2. Tonghun Lee and
group of MSU researchers have been awarded $5M through the
Defense Logistics Agency to investigate next-generation alternative jet
fuel for the Air Force, 'Biofuels as a JP-8 Supplement and
Replacement Fuel for Aviation and Ground Applications' (9/2011).
3. Tonghun Lee receives
the Defense University Research Instrumentation Program (DURIP)
grant for a multi-spectral high speed PLIF/PIV/RST laser system (6/2011).
4. Tonghun Lee
receives the Denso University Research Grant for 'Energetically
Enhance Ignition System for Internal Combustion Engines' (6/2011).
5.
Tonghun Lee, Andrew Christlieb (Math), and John Verboncoeur (ECE) are awarded
a Strategic Partnership Grant ($400K) from the MSU
Foundation to study dynamic optimization of plasma assisted combustion (6/2011).
6. Tonghun Lee will spend eights week at the Wright Patterson Air
Force Base as a Faculty Fellow for the 2011 Air Force Summer Faculty
Fellowship Program (SFFP) conducting high speed laser imaging research (5/2011).
7. Stephen Hammack
receives the prestigious 'National Science Foundation Graduate
Research Fellowship' (4/2011).
