Policy makers, entrepreneurs, Universities, and economic development professionals (stakeholders) will benefit from the identification of significant sources of waste biomass and idle land that can support energy crops.  Simple, interactive algorithms to convert biomass to a common energy unit (BTU) are needed by stakeholders to maximize the impact of the inventory for the State.

Objectives

·         Identify sites of residual biomass and land that can produce high energy value biomass

·         Determine gross energy theoretically available from the biomass

·         Estimate energy requirements in processing biomass

·         Calculate the estimated theoretical energy balance so that amount of the available energy can be estimated

·         Identify constraints that may substantially impact the accuracy of prediction
