Ship in Iquitos harbor.  The owner of this ship sat between Arlene and I on the plane flight back to Lima.  The ship is 2300 miles up the Amazon from the Atlantic Ocean.

Our room in the Marriott Hotel
Our room in the Marriott Hotel was one of the nicest we have ever stayed in.  Truely 5 star with a view of the Pacific Ocean.
Bathroom
Even the Bathroom was wonderful after a week in the jungle.  Fully done in nice marble with sparate shower and bath.

Room view looking North.  You can see the famous Rosa Nautica Restaurant on the pier.  There were surfers riding both sides of the pier.

Mummy in National Anthropology Museum dated from about 200BC.  Note the exceptional detail on the textiles.
Ancient Textiles
Ancient Textiles from Pre-Inca culture in southern Peru   (about 200BC-800AD) had incredable detail and workmanship.
Pre-Inca pottery
A selection of Pre-Inca pottery in the museum.  We had a chronological tour and were surprised at the number of well developed cultures in Peru before the Inca consolidated them shortly before the Spanish arrived.

Mold for early pottery.  Most of the pottery that has survived was used for religious purposes.  Molds were used for many pieces.
Dinner at the Huaca Pucllana ruins.
Dinner at the Huaca Pucllana ruins.  One of the best restaurants in Miraflores is located at these ruins.  It was a great dinner.

And they are off.  A woman I talked to had soared OVER our 24 story hotel in this rig.
Love Park, Miraflores area, Lima, Peru
Love Park, Miraflores area, Lima, Peru.  The locals compete for the longest kiss under this statue.  The park is on the cliff in the Miraflores area about a quarter mile north of our hotel.
