We have a broad range of research interests that are centered on water (quantity and quality) and environmental flow and transport processes. Recent research addressed questions involving the fate and transport of chemical and biological agents in different hydrologic units in the Great Lakes region of North America (watersheds, rivers and streams, lakes and groundwater). We believe that many interesting research questions transcend the boundaries of traditional disciplines such as hydrology or microbiology and this is reflected in the multi-disciplinary nature of questions we often address and in our collaborations within and outside MSU. Two general research themes of current interest:
- Groundwater - surface water interactions at the river basin and river reach scales and the development and application of process-based models
- Coastal water quality: Linking lakes and watersheds in mechanistic models to improve predictions
The courses I teach are in line with my research interests - CE829 (Mixing and Transport in Surface Waters), ENE801 (Dynamics of Environmental Systems), CE421 (Engineering Hydrology) and CE321 (Introduction to Fluid Mechanics). The tabs above have links to additional information about my research, publications and courses.
