| 36th MUFMECH Program and Schedule
2009 Midwest Fluid Mechanics Retreat (MUFMECH) will be organized by MSU. Last year’s host was UM organized by Bill Schultz.
This year's event will be held from Thursday, April 16th through Saturday, April 18st, 2009 at the Geneva Center in Rochester, Indiana (see directions).
The MUFMECH 2009 program is now available: program.
General MUFMECH Information
Purpose: To bring together students and faculty from graduate degree institutions in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, Wisconsin, and bordering rivers who have a common interest in the discipline of Fluid Mechanics and who wish to share their advancements of its knowledge. Presentation of a talk is not a prerequisite for meeting attendance.
Programs: The technical program will be creatively assembled from the titles submitted to the organizers, through the steering committee members of the individual schools. The program will reflect the wide range of topics covered by the fluid mechanics community in the five-state area, and presentations by students, faculty, and guests are encouraged.
The meeting is informal — no abstracts are required, no invited speakers, no sponsorship from funding agencies may be mentioned, and presenters are not to list the presentation on their vitae. However, there will be basketball, volleyball, and soccer. Bring sweats and clothes for hiking through the woods.
Please refer to the section on Directions to Rochester Indiana for travel instructions and Rules and Regulations for details of lodging. The total registration fee for the retreat is determined by the number of participants. The registration fee this year depends on the lodging type you choose and whether you are a faculty or student (see rules). The registration fee includes two nights lodging, five meals, Thursday evening snacks, and Friday evening party. The cost is for the entire meeting (or any part thereof).
MUFMECH is a retreat, not a “commuter” meeting. For you and the community to benefit from the MUFMECH experience, you should plan to attend the entire meeting. Contact your committee member(s) for details.
