About MSUWIC
Goals
To bring together women interested in computing technology to:
- enrich their educational, personal, and professional development
- facilitate networking with other students, faculty, staff, alumni, and members of the community
- Encourage retention and recruitment of women in the computing majors
- Increase awareness of the lack of women in the field, and help to create a welcoming environment for women who may feel isolated
Joining MSUWIC
MSUWIC is open to anyone interested in computing technology (yes, both men and women are welcome to join). Its a great opportunity to get involved, as we have many leadership opportunities available. Join us at our regular meetings or special events to find out more, or contact a member of our E-board for more information.
History
In spring semester 2005 only 32 of 362 undergraduate students in CSE at MSU were women, according to the MSU Office of Planning and Budgets. MSUWIC was founded in spring 2005, originally as a book club. Several participants decided that a registered student organization was needed.
